Antonio Canova, the sign of beauty

The work “Antonio Canova. The sign of beauty” was created on the occasion of the European Year of Cultural Heritage in a limited and numbered edition.

It is an editorial initiative, signed by UTET Grandi Opere, which involves and condenses in a single volume all the best cultural, artistic and artisanal skills to create a true work of art in a book form.

It isn’t only the most important and complete tribute to Canova, but a monument to Italian cultural heritage. The volume, a closed format of 34 x 48 cm, is made up of 378 pages in which the most important Italian professionals join together in the art of printing and bookbinding. The text is by Professor Giuseppe Pavariello, one of Canova’s top scholars.

In over 70 black and white images, the marble statues of Antonio Canova come back to life on paper, regaining their harmony and plasticity thanks to the photography of the master Mimmo Jodice and the wisdom of the art of printing.
