PICASSO. FIGURES The catalogue, published by MondoMostre, of the great exhibition by the Musée national Picasso-Paris

Tecnostampa Pigini Group for PICASSO. FIGURES

After the great success achieved at the Frist Art Museum in Nashville (February 5 – May 2, 2021), the Picasso Figures exhibition was inaugurated at the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, Quebec City in Canada on June 12 and will be open until September 2021. The exhibition is accompanied by a 176-page illustrated catalogue, edited by Emilia Philippot and François Dareau, from the Musée national Picasso-Paris. The volume, published by MondoMostre and printed by Tecnostampa, includes seventy-five colour plates, details of full-page works of art and numerous comparative illustrations. In addition to an essay considering Picasso’s art according to the prism of contemporary approaches, such as his representation of both male and female figures, the catalogue also contains extensive commentary on artworks and a comprehensive chronology of the artist’s life. The print quality of the images was so appreciated that RMN-GP (La Réunion des musées nationaux – Grand Palais), the owner of the photographic reproductions of Picasso’s works, chose to sponsor the volume on its own communication channels.

The exhibition features paintings, works on paper and sculptures on loan from the Musée national Picasso-Paris, the largest public collection of works by Pablo Picasso in the world. The exhibition explores the fascination that the bodily figure has exercised on the artist throughout his life and career. A body intended as a means of transmitting a series of experiences, from love and sexuality to conflict, anxiety and despair. Highlights include major paintings from the various stages of Picasso’s career, as well as more intimate works that give an insight into his creative process. Viewers will see how Picasso overturned Western traditions by dismantling and rebuilding the body to signify psychological breakdown and transformation.
