From 5 July to 10 November 2024, Susanna Bauer is on show, together with other artists, at the MAN museum in Nuoro, Italy, with DIORAMA Generation Earth, a large exhibition that will transform all the rooms of the museum into a dynamic and sensitive space, made up of narratives and visions, memories of the earth and new horizons. The MAN, like a gigantic diorama – a boxed illusion of a plausible world, will return to offer the public an experience of “crossing” the museum, questioning itself on current issues.
DIORAMA – Generation Earth reflects on the strong sense of restlessness of the first generation faced with the realistic possibility of the extinction of their species. Starting from this condition of confusion, DIORAMA explores, without claiming to be analytical and exhaustive, the current scenario, proposing possible visions that reflect on such urgent issues.

THE EXHIBITION.
Bauer’s work, collected for the first time in the book IN LEAF to be presented to the international public, is exhibited at the MAN, together with other original works by as many artists, to trace the path of the earth’s evolution, from its origins to current situation of the imminent danger of extinction. Like a greenhouse production, the natural world is recreated and imitated. Mimesis and representation animate the works of Barragão, Kusumoto, Roberti, Illenberger, Bauer. The natural world, fixed in a sculptural form or sealed in the circuit of the fabric, re-proposed by the sensitivity of man or by artificial intelligence, acquires an unusual dynamism and a new reality.

IN LEAF.
Observing Bauer’s leaves we are struck by the sense of fragility of these small objects produced by nature in balance between beauty and vulnerability, resistance and transformation. The embroideries woven between the natural textures of the leaves represent our potential generator of connections. The time and gestures that the artist dedicates to the leaves, the object and means of his contemplation, represent the recognition, artistic and poetic at the same time, of the fundamental role that vegetation plays in the cycle of life and in its continuous regeneration, fixing in the works create, within their thin and complex ribs, a fragment of eternity. Susanna Bauer’s work, extrapolating the leaf from its everyday dimension, makes it unique and eternal with her work, which brings together her philosophical thought, her admiration for nature, her creative flair as well as her ability to create of extraordinary embroidery.
